What is the "First Look"?

Somewhere along the way, it became bad luck for a groom to see his bride before the wedding - and somewhere else along the way, someone decided that this tradition needed to be thrown out the door. While some couples opt out for a First Look, others have found it to be a special moment for just the two of them. Your wedding day will be fast paced, and you won't have much time to yourselves until after the reception.

First Looks are intimate and emotional, as the day you've been planning is happening faster than it took to plan it, and seeing the person that you're about to say "I Do" to for the rest of your life is gong to fill you with even more happiness, excitement, anxiety and love - and that isn't something you can really express in words. It does however, photograph beautifully. With a First Look, you can hug, kiss, cry, and check her out in that beautiful wedding dress she hid from you for months, see how debonair he looks in his tux, and have that private moment to yourselves. It also helps to calm down your pre-wedding jitters, and you can focus on the moment and each other.

First Looks are also a great opportunity to knock out some of those formal photos with the wedding party and family members so that after the ceremony, you can go straight into the receptionl!

What should I expect during the consultation?

I always aim for you to feel well informed and comfortable. Before your wedding or session, I'd love to meet you to discuss all the details of your wedding and/or session in a pre-wedding or pre-session consultation! This can be done over coffee, Skype, FaceTime or phone. During this consultation, we will go over the details of the Questionnaire that was sent to you via e-mail. This is the best time to ask any questions you have about your wedding day, outfits for photo sessions, payments, etc. Please feel free to think of anything you want to ask. This is not only time for me to get to know a little about you, but for you to get to know a little about me as well.

How far in advance can I book your Wedding Photography Services?

The sooner the better! I take bookings up to 18 months out. Anything past that will be dealt with on a situational basis.

Can I meet you before I book?

Yes. I highly encourage this that way we can get to know each other. If that isn't possible, I would love to Skype/FaceTime or talk to you over the phone.

Can I order more products from my engagement or bridal session?

Yes. The Proof Gallery allows you to order and purchase prints and various print products.

How do I pay a deposit or make a payment toward my balance?

Deposits, partial and monthly payments are set up through PayPal. Checks and cash payments can also be utilized, however, I do not accept payments to be made through mail.

Do you shoot on the weekend?

Yes! During the off season for weddings (January, February, and July), I am available to shoot on the weekends. However, during Wedding Season, I reserve all Saturdays for Weddings/Elopements.

Do you deliver every image you shoot?

Duplicate images, test shots, missed focused shots, shots with bad expressions and other images that may dilute the overall product delivery are eliminated.

Do you do destination weddings? What additional fees are associated with destination weddings?

While I am based out of New Orleans, I serve clients all around the world. My destination wedding photography packages are simply standard packages plus the cost of travel and reasonable accommodations if necessary. For more information on booking your destination wedding, email hello@xoquinntographer.com for details.

I have a lot of downtime in between events on my wedding day. Will I be charged for that downtime?

For a variety of reasons, I have to charge for the time in between events. The fact is, I’m never truly resting during the day, whether I’m backing up images, setting up for the second venue, traveling to the second location, taking venue shots, or making up for lost photo time because of wedding day delays. In many cases, I use that “”downtime”" to take you and your significant other out for a photo session or more family portraits.

How do I reserve you for my date?

All dates and times are reserved once I receive your signed Contract and Deposit.

What happens if we go over the contracted amount of time?

I understand that not everything goes as planned. I never pack up before the contracted time; and moreover, I’m not leaving on the dot when the contracted time is up. Instead, I will ask you at the end of your contracted time whether or not you would like to extend. You will be charged the rates specified in your contract rounded to the closest 15 minute increment.

When should we do our engagement session?

I encourage you to do your engagement session as soon as possible. The latest I suggest is at least eight weeks prior to the wedding date due to the time necessary to post produce each image (4 weeks) and complete your product order(s) (4 weeks).

How many images do you typically deliver?

I typically deliver anywhere from 45-50 images an hour.

How many pages and images do we get in our wedding day album?

My signature Flush Mount Albums contain 16 pages, 8 sides and up to 80 images. If you’d like to add more pages, an additional spread (2 pages) is $35.00. I allow one revision at no additional cost. Additional revisions are $35.00.

Why is the Deposit non-refundable?

Deposits are used to reserve your date. Once I’ve reserved your date, I do not accept new clients for that particular day. However, in the event that I can book something else of equal value to the amount paid, your deposit will be refunded.

How long does it take to get my images and products back?

Approximately 10 business days after your session, and 6-8 weeks for your wedding, you will be contacted to view your on-line gallery. You will receive a link, password and/or a set of instructions on how to download your images. If you purchased a Wedding Album, Custom Flash Drive or Canvas Print, you may select your favorite photo(s) via your on-line photo gallery. Wedding Albums take 6-8 weeks for design, printing and shipping. Canvas Prints and Flash Drives take 3 weeks for design, printing and shipping.

What should I wear to my photoshoot?

I would recommend clothing that you're most comfortable in that fits your personalities. Depending on the session type, I suggest 2 outfits for engagements (one formal, one casual). For inspiration, you can view my Pinterest Board here.

What should I expect during my Portrait Session?

I always advise to arrive and be ready to shoot about 15 minutes before our session begins, that way we’ve gone over any last minute details and that we are all set and ready to shoot! I would also suggest that you bring water, towelettes (y'all know how hot Louisiana gets haha), and ladies, a pair of flip flops if you decide to wear heels. In any scenario, I always like to make sure we capture the real emotions of your personality. There will be a wide variety of images shot from start to finish making sure we accomplish what you are looking for in your session with me. My sessions are very personable. I help with all of the posing and guide you through every step of the way. I know sometimes being in front the camera can be intimidating. I want your experience to be as comfortable as possible, so feel free to be yourself, show affection, and most of all, have fun!
